Previously, we reviewed the three major industrial clusters for hardware and tools in China: Zhejiang, Guangdong, and Jiangsu. Our findings revealed that these provinces are not only the primary production hubs for hardware and tools in China but also the top three exporters in this sector. And in this article, let's take a look at the distinctive features of hardware and tools industry clusters in other regions, including Shandong, Hebei, Henan, Fujian, Hunan, Shanghai, and Chongqing.
Shandong
A Widely Recognized Distributing Center for Hardware and Electromechanical Products
Shandong is widely recognized as a distributing center for hardware and electromechanical products. The production and trade of hardware and tools in the region have shown a rapid development trend, attracting advanced manufacturing companies from countries such as Japan, South Korea, Europe, and the United States to settle there. Currently, various specialized markets for hardware and tools have been established throughout Shandong, creating a synergy between comprehensive and specialized markets, industrial and commercial markets, as well as large and small-scale markets.
Linyi, known as the "China Hardware Industry and Trade City", specializes in the production of manual tools such as pliers, hammers, axes, wrenches, as well as hardware for construction such as saw blades, clamps, and tiles, and garden tools such as picks and hoes. Linyi Hardware City is a large-scale wholesale market that pools various high-quality tools, construction hardware, woodworking hardware, power tools, daily hardware, locks, and small-scale electromechanical products. It operates in 12 major categories with over 1,100 varieties. The average daily trading volume exceeds 40,000 transactions, with an annual turnover of over RMB 6 billion. Its products are delivered to countries and regions including Russia, Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
Leling City in Dezhou is the base of China's construction hardware industry, currently housing over 300 hardware companies, including more than 20 large-scale enterprises. The hardware industry serves as the backbone industry in Leling City, with products encompassing door and window hardware, construction hardware, tools, and construction instruments. Among them, plastic-steel door and window hardware holds a 13% market share nationwide, ranking first. Guoqiang (Shandong) Hardware Technology is one of the representative enterprises in Leling City. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sweden's ASSA ABLOY, its products are well sold in provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions in China, as well as in more than 40 countries and regions in Europe, the United States, Africa, Southeast Asia, etc. It has maintained the top market sales volume for 7 consecutive years in the industry.
The local government plans to bring together companies in the fields of door and window hardware, access control hardware, curtain wall structural components, fire and smoke exhaust systems, intelligent ventilation systems, as well as plastic and fire-resistant materials to establish an industrial park for door and window hardware that incorporates functions such as production, assembly, warehousing, and logistics. The goal is to achieve a target output value of RMB 10 billion by 2025.
Qingdao is known for its strength in building plumbing, hardware and tools, machinery and electrical equipment, and small hardware products for civil use. The phrase “For all your hardware needs, choose Taidong Hardware" is deeply rooted among the people in Qingdao. With over 80 years of history, Taidong Hardware stands as China's only time-honored brand in the hardware industry. During the period from the 1950s to the 1980s, Qingdao's hardware industry was flourishing, with renowned companies like Qingdao Tool Factory No.1, Qingdao Tool Factory No. 2, Qingdao Cable Factory, and Qingdao Pump Factory. Notable hardware brands such as "Jinying," "Shuangyu," and "Shuangling" also emerged during this time. Qingdao Nails Factory, once the largest manufacturer of nail products in China, gained nationwide recognition for its esteemed "Sanxing Brand" shoe nails.
Rizhao boasts three distinctive cross-border e-commerce industrial belts, namely, fitness equipment, textile and clothing, and hardware tools. Gaoxing Town in the Lanshan District of Rizhao City has established itself as the largest hardware processing area in the city and is widely known as the "Hardware Town”. Gaoxing Town has thrived due to its prosperous hardware industry and has fostered a cluster of private enterprises specializing in mold manufacturing, design, casting, heat treatment, high-end ironwork products, construction machinery components, automotive parts, sports and fitness equipment, and finished packaging. These products are exported to numerous countries and regions in Europe, America, Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and Australia. Local representative companies include Huayuan Rigging, Weiye Tools, Fenghua Scaffolding, and Yushi Sanitary Ware. The local government is committed to promoting the high-quality development of the hardware industry and actively encourages the growth and upgrade of small, yet specialized hardware enterprises.
